Welcome to the Cameo Cinema

Dear Friends of the Cameo, As 2010 wraps up,
I'd like to share some of the many magical scenes from the Cameo. The best way to do that is to start at the beginning...on the 1st day of January with a full house watching Out of Africa, toasting each other and seeing what "pearls of wisdom" were written in their fortune cookie there was an air of excitement to see what would unfold in 2010!

Who knew the rich stories that were coming...take a look back with me:
Date night at the Cameo looks like this...couples joined us to screen the new release Date Night and enjoy that delicious cab with the same name from winemaker Phifer Pavitt and then do a live/skype interview with the director Shawn Levy in New York...it was a first and great fun!

Memorial Day weekend showcased our first St. Helena Family Film Festival which debuted 31 shorts made by local young filmmakers at our Oscar night screening. The weekend was packed with films and events for all to enjoy including a panel of Animation Professionals who shared their "tricks of the trade". Let's not forget the encore stage performance of F.R.E.A.K. by the St. Helena Independent Theater group! The weekend was a huge success and we were able to raise over $9000 for our local Teen Centers and the Cameo Community programs.

Then who could forget those Live World Cup Games! We played to a packed house of locals, visitors and The Speaker of the House who were all cheering for their favorite team...GOAL!

There are many stories that squeeze my heart through out the year and some are bittersweet...this year we lost two of our regulars who would join us on Tuesdays for our Film Class headed by instructor and friend Ian McGiver. Doug Hattala and Scarlett Dwyer enjoyed and gave much to that class...they are missed by all! Then we cut to some of the "special events" held at the Cameo in 2010 which enriched many of us...The pre-release screening of Waiting for Superman followed by a Q&A by screen writer Billy Kimbal, another pre-release screening of The Tillman Story and a Q&A session with director Amir Bar Lev and who could forget our Iron Chef event with local chef/celebrity Christopher Kostow who dazzled the RLS students and adults with his culinary skills!

Then we packed the house for the fabulous LunaFest which showcased women film makers and their stories.

WHAT A YEAR!!! This is just a "peak" at what the year brought to the Cameo...I could go on and on.

As the year comes to an end and we put this one "in the can" and call "cut" I'd like to thank my community, my Ambassadors and my staff for all the rich stories you give me and the Cameo. I really do live in OZ!
SEE YOU AT THE MOVIES!
