The Well-Digger's Daughter

The Well-Digger's Daughter

Daniel Auteul directed, wrote the screenplay and starred in this award-winning, charming romantic drama that is based on a novel by Marcel Pagnol, about pre-World War II France, where a father (Auteul) is torn between his sense of honor and his deep love for his lovely, saintly daughter (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) who gets in trouble with the wealthy son (Nicolas Duvauchelle) of a shopkeeper. This story is told with clarity and wisdom and the characters are beautifully depicted. The music and soundtrack are exquisite and won the "World Soundtrack Award" at the World Soundtrack Awards.
