119 mins | Rated R

Directed by Matt Johnson

Starring Jay Baruchel, Michael Ironside, Rich Sommer, Glenn Howerton, Cary Elwes

The story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world's first smartphone. BlackBerry (98% FRESH at Rotten Tomatoes) offers a tragicomic portrait of decline in Earth's foremost business smartphone maker, 1999-2016.

National Evening of Science on Screen: “BlackBerry”, the comedic mockumentary film about the rise and fall of the iconic smartphone, isn’t just a tech and startup history lesson. It’s a story packed with lessons for any freelancer navigating the ever-changing tides of business and innovation.

Following this special Science on Screen presentation of BlackBerry, UC Berkeley researcher Dr. Don Moore will illuminate the psychological challenges that face all businesses and, in fact, virtually all human relations.

Special Guest:Psychologist Dr. Donald A. Moore is Professor and Chair in Leadership & Communication at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. His most recent book is "Perfectly Confident: How to Calibrate Your Decisions Wisely."

"The story is so excitingly told, the performances so watchable, and the dialogue so quotable that it becomes the verbal equivalent of an action flick—kinetic, suspenseful, and sometimes unexpectedly beautiful and weirdly moving." Roger Ebert, film critic

The Science on Screen grant is an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theater with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. SOS celebrates the creative pairings of current, classic, cult, and documentary films with lively introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine.
