In this new documentary, director Sara Joe Wolansky, follows a team of eccentric and determined U.S.-based cheesemongers led by Adam “Mr. Moo” Moskowitz as they compete and overcome personal obstacles during training for the Mondial du Fromage, which is held in France every two years.
Wolansky spent close to three years following America’s greatest cheesemongers as they attempted the impossible: beating the French at their own game. This scrappy team of eccentric American cheesemongers defy tradition to take on the world's top cheese masters, battling cultural clashes, personal struggles, and melting cheese in pursuit of respect, redemption, and a historic victory.
Special Guest! Thalassa (Lassa) Skinner will be in attendance for a Q&A session. She is co-founder of the cheese magazine Culture and the education and community-building program Counter Culture.
Savor seasonal 'bites' inspired by the film and created by Skinner with David Katz of Panevino.
More about Lassa: She caught the cheese bug 20+ years ago at Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge, MA. After working in restaurant kitchens across Boston, she settled in the Napa Valley. There she started a cheese program at Tra Vigne’s wine bar, managed the St. Helena Farmers Market, opened the Oxbow Cheese Merchant and co-authored “Cheese For Dummies,” “Cheese Boards to Share” and “Creating the Perfect Cheese Board for Dummies.” Lassa is passionate about spreading the love of cheese, judging competitions and teaching.
Napa Valley wines and craft beers will be available for purchase at concessions.
Proceeds benefit St. Helena Farmers' Market. Tickets are $35 inclusive. Doors open at 5:00 pm; screening at 6:00 pm.
