The Odyssey
The Odyssey is probably the most famous story in history about a man trying to return home. It is a story about life after war, about a man returning from a world of violence and loss, carrying with him a glory that does not set him free. Odysseus, king of Ithaca, spent ten years fighting in the Trojan War, then another ten years wandering the sea on his way back to Penelope and Telemachus. Along the way, he encounters Cyclopes, sirens, gods, storms, and the underworld. Each encounter represents a myth, while beneath these fantastical scenes lie fears that feel surprisingly contemporary.
The Cameo Cinema will celebrate The 7th Annual Art House Theater Day on July 30, 2026 with the presentation of a proclamation by Congressman Mike Thompson, at the 4:00 pm screening of The Odyssey.
Art House Theater Day was created to honor the 136 American and Canadian “art house” movie theaters who provoke, challenge, entertain and inspire their communities. Congressman Thompson’s Field Representative Anna Chouteau will present Cameo owner Cathy Buck with the proclamation, honoring The Cameo and its contribution to Napa Valley’s cultural landscape; Congressman Thompson will convey his congratulations in a short video.
Joining the celebration is Titus Vineyards, who will pour its 2022 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and 2024 Sauvignon Blanc at both screenings of the film, 4:00 and 7:45 pm.
Moviegoers can choose one or both of the wines at the 4:00 or 7:45 pm screenings. Movie tickets are $10 and the wine is $20 for each pour.
